WHITNEY SLEEPING: 3/21

Whitney had been watching a show on the computer. It had been quiet for a while of quiet. Brady was sleeping and I was cleaning. I went to see what Whitney was doing and she was sleeping upright in the chair. You can also see the make-up job she gave herself as well.

Half-Marathon

Saturday, March 19 I ran my first Half-Marathon (13.1 miles). I had been training since January. It was great to finish.  I don't have my chip time but my clock time was 2 hours 20 minutes. My chip time should be about a minute faster. My only injury was my middle toe on my right foot. I think my nail was a little to long and it was hitting the end of my shoe. While running I thought I was getting a blister on the end of that toe. When I took my shoe off my toenail was all purple. I imagine I will end up losing that toe-nail. It was worth it!
After the Race
The finish line
The Pre race. Several people from my ward ran it as well. Here we are gathered getting ready to race.
running...running...running...I ran all 13.1 miles. My goal was to run the entire race and not walk.
ALMOST DONE!!!!
CROSSING THE FINISH LINE.

Garner State Park- Spring Break 2011

We went to Garner State Park and played in the RIO FRIO - meaning cold river in Spanish. It is one of the few rivers in Texas that is fed by a spring. This makes the water clear and cold. The clearest water in Texas. Those people up North can easily take for granted their clear water. Here the water is usually colored a murky dirty color. You get used to it. I was not as brave as everyone else and didn't swim in the cold water. I find in my older age I don't tolerate cold as easily. I tend to be cold all the time and Bryant is a furnace. The kids aand Bryant all swam. Brady had a fever from teething and was cranky each night. On Sunday we went to church in Uvalde and showed up an hour late- oops forgot about day light savings time. It was different going to a small ward- I guess two weeks ago they officially became a ward (previously a branch). Sunday night Brady was waking up crying and fussy all night from his teeth hurting. He is cutting 4 two year old molars. This left Bryant and I with little sleep. We decided to pack up and go home on Monday instead of Tuesday. A cold front had moved in monday morning and made swimming in cold water not fun. We decided a fussy night with Brady was not what we wanted (We lost his receiving black in one of the stores in the park and Brady would wake up saying "blankey")

On the first day we went hiking. Bryant has had a back injury from moving food storage for Jennifer that has been bothering him and Bennett has had sports injuries in his knees and ankles that have kept him from all he could do otherwise as well. Due to this Garren and I continued and left the others to head back after a mile and we ended up going on a 7 1/2 mile hike up into the hills. It was a new experience to hike up a hill. In the Houston area there are not any hills to be found. The area we went to is known as  "The Hill Country"- it is like the foot hills but with forest and deer.

Garren and his mom after their long hike. Bryant had the camera so we couldn't take pictures on our way.

This is a picture of Mount Baldy. Garren and I hiked up this hill on our hike. He did a great job. We added our rocks to the large pile of rocks on the top.

You can see the deer if you look closely. We saw lots of deer.
Getting ready for bed. Brady took a while of tossing a turning to settle down. Whitney would go right to sleep.
THE LOOK
We spent alot of time getting poles ready and by the time we were are ready to fish, the fish were not interested in eating our bait and it was time for lunch. Whitney loves to go fishing.
Brady loved going on the boat with his big brother.
Ben sleeping
Bennett and Garren had fun swinging from a rope swing.
