First Day of School 9/22/11

After a wonderful summer the kids started back to school.

I was so good at taking pictures of Garren I even got him putting on his shoes.
What a fine young man!!! Garren is starting 7th grade at a new school that is just around the corner from our home. He will be riding his bike. No more bus.

Bailey is starting 3rd grade. She is ready to head out on the bus.
I forgot to get a picture of Bennett walking out the door. This is picture on the first day of school going over all his classes. He had to start early morning seminary and be out the door by 5:55. I was awake but by the time I remembered he was gone. He is starting 10th grade. WOW!

Patio Project

Before our Summer trip we Jack Hammered out our cement patio. We wanted to put in a large patio to put all our trees on and enjoy. So we had the area below all torn up and it was very difficult to walk on broken concrete. We put a total of 6 yard of decomposed granite on the area and compacted it down. We are preparing to put in our paver patio and our shed kit that has been sitting on our driveway for over six months.

One more wheelbarrow load. It is hard to believe all the loads we have hauled and shoveled. Bennett was asked 5 things he like and didn't like for a school assignment. He put shoveling dirt on the "didn't like" side.
Kids have been helping- we were almost done at this point.
Me in my gardening hat. I didn't realize how much a hat helps with the sun.
Bennett and Garren question how Brady will learn to work because they will have done it all. I told them we will send them to your house when they are older and you can put them to work.

Our trees take up the lawn now. August has been the hottest month on record for Houston. Only 2 blueberry plants died. Everything else is still growing. We even have worked in it.
