Halloween

We had a mild Halloween evening mid 70's. We spent the evening trick or treating in our neighborhood. Garren sat in a chair and handed out candy. He ran out of candy then some of his friends cam by and he ran around with them for a while and came home. This is a day of toooooooo much candy. We came home and ate to much and put it in Ziploc bags. We filled 5 gallon size bags. Bennett spent the evening with friends trick or treating in another naborhood and had a get together after. Later I had Bryant hide the candy at work. He brought it home for Bailey's birthday party. I then threw away the rest. I get a little heat from the kids because I want it locked up and out of sight and eventually thrown out.

School Assignment- Garren cares for an infant

10/18/2012
Garren is in a Principles of Human Services class (Previously known as Home Economics to those that are older). There are a few guys in his class (but I don't think he minds being out numbered). One of their assignments was to take care of an infant. They cost about $800 and are smart babies. They have to take care of the infant and it has a memory of if you take care of it or not. So it starts at 3 pm after school and ends at 7 am the next morning. Bennett kicked him out of the bedroom for the night and he took over the game room. Bennett didn't want to be woken up by a crying baby.

So he brings this baby home in car seat. She come equipped with diapers, bottle, and clothes. The baby cries and he has to figure out what she needs and take care of her. There are sensors on everything and Garren has a sensor on his wrist so it know he is taking care of it. I thought he did good during the evening. The baby would cry and he would feed it, change it and even changed her clothes when it was time to get her ready for bed. I went to bed and had a great night sleep. Garren did not. Well he comes home that afternoon saying he failed the assignment. He didn't hear alot of the baby's cries during the night. He  complained about his rough night but he didn't have as rough of a night as he should have. (he can sleep through alarm clocks for hours...so why not a babies cry). Good thing for the family unit and that someday when he does have a family, he will have a wife.

Maybe he will do better with sewing...He is now going to make a quilt!!!

Appendicitis and Fall in Texas

Bryant had been complaining of a stomach ache for about a week. He had a bug that went through the house at the same time. So first we attributed it to that bug. It didn't go away. So after a diagnosis of constipation and laxatives that didn't relieve it. He decided to stop at a local stand-alone ER. A CT scan later showed appendicitis. He then traveled via ambulance to the hospital. He was the first case the next morning and had his appendix out. Here he is in pre-op. Well after surgery he had a hard time coming off his oxygen. He improved when he was awake. Well that night I decided to do a little investigation. I asked the nurse for a pulse ox machine to monitor him. If he was asleep his oxygen level would drop to the 80's. Put him on oxygen he would stand in the 90's. So a sleep study specialist/ pulmonologist was consulted. We stayed another night so we could get the documentation for the insurance to get home oxygen. He is now scheduled to have a sleep study done to get the official sleep apnea diagnosis. So our week was a little unexpected. My mom had arrived in Houston the week before. So she stayed with the kids 3 nights and I was able to stay in the hospital with Bryant. This is new for us to have family in Houston.

Grandma Cherri and Grandpa Mike send us Halloween in a box each year. One thing they sent was a mix that you could make cake eyeballs. Here Bailey is showing off her eyes.

Garren has been running cross-country with the school. He has been doing awesome. He had district meet on 10/17 and the 8th grade boys came in 2nd in the district (out of 17 middle schools). Good Job. Garren ran 2 miles is just over 15 minutes. It was a lot of fun to see him at those meets competing and keeping himself healthy.
If you wonder why is is impossible to keep a house clean and put together. I have proof. Above is Brady's work of hammering a piece of paper with a nail into our office wall. You see this just as you walk through the front door. What would I do without your help decorating!
